A Trip Down Memory Lane

Today I was doing one of my 6 mile routes with my pacer. When I got halfway I randomly turned down a street that was part of the Salt Lake Marathon route 2 years ago. I have not ran down this road since that race. I remember I woke up that morning and it was raining so stinkin' hard. I was already soaked before the marathon began. It was a freezing cold rain also. My Ipod would not stay in my ears due the rain. I gave it to my mother-in-law at about halfway. By the end of the race though it had stopped raining but was still freezing cold. I got a PR at that race actually. It is always fun to run somewhere with a memory attached. To bad that road was not actually called Memory Lane huh?
That year the SL marathon was cool because it was the first national race after the Boston Marathon terrorist attack. The attack happened 4 days before. there were people at the SL marathon who had ran the Boston Marathon that week. It was a pretty cool race to be apart of.

My name is on this. I think you can see it on the left if you squint.

Brought in the big dogs to this race. I think it was probably the first race they had to be at.

Good race. To bad it cost you an arm and two legs to do.

Slackin'

I am slacking on keeping this up to date. At least I remember the runs I did so far.

Tuesday I ran after school at PF.

Aint' Nobody Got Time For Dat!!

How do I have time to run? In all honesty I don't. It's that simple. I have to make time for it and plan ahead. The past couple of running days the weather has threatened my run. One day last week and today I did not have time nor did the weather cooperate with my running. Luckily I timed it right both times that when I got home from run it would start raining. Timing is always different with my running. Some days this year I have ran at 3:30 in the morning and other days have been at 9:00. One Saturday I ran at 11:35 PM to get my daily run in before it ended. Aint' nobody got time to run is true but everybody can make time.

New Route and Getting Shredded

Today was so amazing!! It was beautiful day with the sun and not even a cloud in the sky. It was a little chilly, but it made it perfect for running. I ran a new route from my mother-in-laws house and I loved it. My wife told me about it a few weeks ago and so today was the first of many times I will do it. My pacer loved it.
I thought was pretty cool. Go Utes and Go Run!
I have been trying my best to do more core work. Running and core work go hand in hand. Core work reduces injuries and strengthens muscles that don't get used until your tired on a long run. My wife had this workout video called "30 Day Shred" with one of the trainers from Biggest Loser Jillian Michaels. Yes I know it is directed for women. Yes I did feel weird the first few times I did it and Jillian talks to me like I am a female. No I am not embarrassed anymore because this 25 minute workout kicks my trash, or should I say shreds my trash. It is a great workout and gets all the major core things done. You are suppose to do for 30 days. I have ever only made it 11. So today was day 2. I will let you know how the next 28 days go. If any man makes fun of me for doing this video, than they have never tried it.

200 Miles!!!!

On Thursday I ran 4 miles at night. I love running at night. I did not want to go at all. I had a long day with the baby and school was stressful. Luckily my wife supports me in my goal for the year, and literally pushed me out the door. Once I started running I loved it. I ended up going further than I planned because the night was so great.

On Friday my legs were screaming at me from doing 10 miles two days before. I did a easy 5k with the pacer and called it good.

On Saturday morning my pacer was being kinda stubborn. I finally put him in the BOB and went out running. It had rained the night before so the air was so clean and crisp. I loved running on the wet roads. It reminded me of running the Ogden Marathon, and SL Marathon in 2013 when it had rained the entire time.

Today I ran at PF and enjoyed it. My legs are still beat up from the 10 milers last week. It happens.

Sunburn and City Creek

Yesterday I ran from my wife's work to the state capitol and than I ran up City Creek Canyon for a few miles. I went with may pacer and he loved it. City Creek is awesome to run, walk, or bike up because there are no cars allowed except for the rare maintenance vehicle. I have not ever gone all the way up but I think I may try it soon. It was so un-crowded and quiet. I loved this run. It was the longest run of the year as well. That night when I got in the shower I realized that I had gotten sunburned. What's up with that?
